3 problem-solver hacks to make your day

3 problem-solver hacks to make your dayfeatured

Disclosure: Today’s problem-solver hacks are brought to you by the good people at SweepEasy. Although I’m compensated, all thoughts, opinions, and pristine kitchen floors are entirely my own.

Don’t you just love a good problem-solver? (And don’t you just love it when that problem-solver is a good, old-fashioned/newfangled hack?) Me too.

Problem-solver #1: Epoxy

Listen, it happens: You spent a good chunk of change on a schmancy new countertop and then- whoops- a dropped mug nicks a chip out of that formerly pristine surface. So, do you need to pony up and replace the whole shebang up to the seam or, in the case of granite, the gigantic slab? (…Maybe.)

While you’re making that decision, here’s one of my favorite hacks- which might just tide you over until the next remodel. A good epoxy or fast-curing adhesive fills the hole in no time and, in the case of FiberFix, an attached blue light accelerator hardens the patch in under a minute. Easy to sand down and even easier to reapply as necessary, it even blends with the look of a quartz surface.

This li’l baby saved me a major freakout. (Which I suppose I can just hold onto until the next one. Freakouts keep, right?)

Problem #2: SweepEasy

Sure, it seems like a cinchy chore: You just want to sweep a little bit under the kitchen table and then move on with your day. However, the dried-on banana mixed with unidentified junk requires a bit of scraping before you can sweep it all away. No problem, you’ll just stand up now and continue sweepi- oh come on, did someone stomp Play-Doh into the floor (like a week ago)? Rinse, repeat.

Which is why I’m wholly, totally in love with the SweepEasy broom- as seen on Shark Tank, you guys!- with its retractable scraper and heavy duty bristles. Pop a button, scrape the gunk, secure it back inside, and continue on with your tidying. It’s intuitive, effective, and ridiculously satisfying. Reusable hacks? Perfection.

A sweeping success, even. (I’ll show myself out.)

Problem #3: Can tabs

Find me a person who doesn’t need more closet space and I’ll find you a person who fibs about storage questions.

I learned about this hanger hack about a decade ago- and have cheerfully been employing in our closets ever since. Got can tabs? Then you’ve got room for more dresses, tops and, thankfully, hoodies.

(Carefully) pop off each tab, hook one hanger through a tab hole, and hang the second hanger through the other opening. Repeat as closet height allows.

And then throw a dance party in your newly cavernous closet. (May I suggest the Supremes’ classic “You Keep Me Hanging On?” You’re welcome.)
